As soon as Peter finished his last mid-term, we were off on our weekend of fun. We had a nice relaxing weekend, which is totally out of the norm for us here, and enjoyed spending time together, which we hardly ever get to do.
We started off with going to Belmont Chocolate Factory, we have heard good things about it and decided to make the drive to the northern side of the island to see what it was all about. It started raining on our way out, and kept raining most of the day, but we still had fun.
We were able to go on a tour where they showed us the process the cocoa bean goes through from start to finish
These are the fermenting beans, which did not smell too great
Here are the beans drying
Then people walk through them to make sure they get turned
Here is one of the beans before it gets processed
This is their talking parrot Rainbow
They had cute animals all around
We had fun at Belmont, and at the end of the tour they gave us some cocoa tea, which Peter loves, and some samples of the 60% and 70% chocolate. Peter and I are both converted and love the local dark chocolate, and we left with a lot of chocolate.
After Belmont we decided to go Pearl's Airport, which is an old abandoned airport that has some old planes there. I don't know the story of why the planes are there, but they were neat to see.
After Pearls Airport we drove back home and stopped and got some yummy food from Umbrella's.
Some of my friends joined a dance group called Cardiac Arrest and they were performing at the talent show, so Peter was a very good sport and went with me to watch them perform. They did awesome!
They're the three up front; Lyndzee, Michelle, Lizzy
We had a very fun packed first day, then the rest of the weekend was when the relaxing came in.
