Concord Falls

A few weeks ago a group of us girls went on a hike to Concord Falls, it was really pretty and going up was a fun normal hike, but going down was a bit more exciting.

Us at the falls
It started raining right after we took this picture, and we got in the water and played around for a bit.  It didn't stop raining, it only rained harder, so after a bit we decided to start heading down in the rain.  It was definitely more muddy then we went up, and the trail looked a lot different.  When we went to cross over the river in one place, the spot that is in one of the above pictures, the river had risen to waist level, and was going really fast.  When one of the girls tried to cross, her feet got knocked out from under her, but we were able to catch her and pull her in.  Me and another girl crossed with the help of some other girls, and went to find some guides, and lucky for us, they were already coming to look for us, and they were able to help everyone else make it across the river.  Instead of going back the normal way, where we would have had to cross the river more, the guides took us back another way that had us scaling the side of the mountain, holding on to branches and roots.  My arms were quite sore the next day.  So that was our big adventure coming back down, and I'm glad that everyone ended up making it back safe.  So all that is why we all only have pictures going up, but nothing coming back down.

Here is what my legs looked like after:

We decided I must have walked through something that gave me a nice rash, I got a spider bite on my foot, and some scratches, not too bad for a successful hike.  My legs looked quite gross for a bit, but I still had fun.

Thank you Stephanie for the group pictures!
