We went on our first hash during term three, and had some fun! What happens in hashing is someone ahead of time goes and lays a random path somewhere marking it with shredded paper. You follow the paper to be guided to the end, and sometimes they try and trick you and split in two directions with the paper going both ways, you have to pick a direction hoping you're right, or else after a while it will end with a big 'X' in paper and you have to turn back around and go the other way. They also have different trails, a walkers trail or a runners trail. For the first while the runners and walkers were together, so we did lots of hard stuff together, then it splits and the runners go one way and the walkers go another, marked with the respective 'R' or 'W' in shredded paper.
We went with our friends Laura and Mike, and Laura and I did the walkers trail while Peter and Mike did the runners trail. It was kind of crazy, we were sliding everywhere because of mud, having to hold on by the roots of different plants, and doing that with people all around. Laura totally kicked my bum and took walking to a whole new level for me. I am not a coordinated person at all, so I was all over the place, while she was calmly walking beside me making sure I didn't fall on my face.
I don't remember what it was exactly, but the runners trail was a lot longer then the walkers trail, and got even harder after they split off from the walkers. We had tons of fun, and were quite muddy by the end. Peter had a blast and was totally hooked from the start.

| Here we are after, you can't see our legs but they're covered in mud |
There were some crazy people there, some that take it way seriously, and some people who are just there to get drunk. It was funny seeing the two extremes of people, ones who would push you out of the way if you got the tiniest bit in their way, and others who were hiking with a bottle in hand.
I should have taken pictures during; we were in the middle of a jungle, with some cool sights once we got to the top, but I didn't want to ruin my camera. People probably would have pushed me over the side of the hill because I was stopped taking a picture anyway, so it was for the best.
Sounds crazy, but also a lot of fun. I think I will have to do this before I leave this island.
