Five Years

Earlier this week we celebrated our five year anniversary.  It's crazy, we can't believe it's been five years, but at the same time we feel like we've been together always and can't imagine time without the other.

 

Being in medical school while having an anniversary makes our priorities a little different than they used to be.  Like I talked about last year we usually go on a trip or do something kind of big for our anniversaries, but that's just not possible here.  So this year it was a normal day for us for the most part, then I rushed home from work to start cooking away, and surprised him with dinner and dessert of jerk turkey burgers with a mango slaw, potato wedges, and tres leches.  After studying for a bit he took the rest of the night off and we hung out.  It might sound a little boring, but to us it was perfect.  Spending real quality time together is pretty rare these days, so being able to just be together and laugh and just be was perfect.

 

Let me try to kind of explain the burgers and why it's a special dinner for him, because making burgers for a special dinner sounds kind of weird.  I don't like burgers; call me un-American, I know I'm totally weird, but I don't, but Peter loves them.  So I decided to make him a dinner that I never make that he loves.  Peter would like me to add that "they were by far the best burgers I've ever had".

I had to include this because it makes me laugh every time; this is my awesome cousin Katie leaping for the bouquet and my bestie Steph catching it and laughing.

 

I have to be mushy really quick and say that I can't imagine my life without my husband, and I'm so lucky to have married my best friend.  We really feel like we were made for each other, and I to get to spend eternity with him! We have some great memories from the last five years, and I love that we get to have tons more.
