I was talking with some friends and we thought it would be a good idea to organize a trip around the island, so I sent the word out to anyone who wanted to go. It ended up being a huge turn out, we had eleven cars packed with people caravaning around the island. In one of the little towns I heard a boy say, "What's with all the white people" as we all drove passed.
We started early in the morning meeting at eight, and went all day and didn't get home until six at night. It's a small island, only 12 x 21 miles, but it takes a long time to get anywhere because the roads are so windy.
Here we are gathered at the bottom of my road
On our way up the coast, ignore the date it's totally wrong
Our first stop was Leapers Hill
This plaque tells the story of Leapers Hill
Here is one of my friend's daughter telling us about Leapers Hill
Me and Taylor
This says that the person with the first recorded case of sickle cell disease is buried there
Some people decided to get some ice cream from a little shop, and we tried to take a group picture out front. So below is some of the people that went around the island.
Our next stops were some beaches on the north end of the island, Bathway and Lavera Beach.

Leaving Lavera Beach Lyndzee's car got stuck in the sand. The only thing we could find to try to dig her tire out was a little toy beach shovel, it was pretty funny. We weren't too sure what to do at that point, but then some Grenadian fishermen pulled up, and then some random guys in fatigues and with their help we were finally able to get unstuck. It took them literally pushing one side of her car around and then a group of us girls at the front pushing while Lyndzee stepped on the gas. It was all hilarious and I think the locals thought we were all crazy.
Lyndzee and her very stuck tire
That is the little yellow shovel that we tried to dig her out with before we asked for help
Here we are pushing while that man is lifting
We had to beg the guys to pose with us for this picture, again I think they thought we were all crazy
After finally leaving Lavera beach we headed to Belmont Estate where Peter and I went for mid-term weekend. Since we had just gone there I sat back and relaxed and ate chocolate while others went on the tour.
After Belmont some went to Pearls Airport and some went to Grand Etang National Forest.
After that we all headed home.

Here is a picture of one of the towns we drove through, people park on the side of the road and make it impossible for cars to get by going both directions. Keep in mind that in Grenada we drive on the left side of the road, so we have to drive on the wrong side of the road to go around the cars parked on the side, hoping the whole time that a car doesn't come the other direction. This is one of the reasons driving in Grenada is crazy.
I think we all got home and pretty much went right to bed, it was an exhausting fun day. I'm glad that it ended up being such a great turn out and I got to meet some new people.
