Crater Lake

A few times we've been able to go up to Grand Etang Forest to go to the lake there and have a little BBQ with friends.  It's actually kind of cold there, probably a solid 82 degrees with clouds and a breeze, which is cold to us because we're used to the super hot, so it's a nice little escape from the non-stop heat.  All the guys thought it wasn't bad because they're used to being on campus in the AC all day, but all of the girls and kids were freezing.

This was before I got freezing and had to put on pants and a jacket

The guys found random stuff to build a fire with and once they put it all together it actually wasn't too bad of a BBQ.

Here are most of the guys putting the fire together

Here is the handy man making us a roasting stick with a machete

Here's a shot of the finished BBQ they made, not too shabby

After we finished eating we fed some fish on the edge of the lake, the kids absolutely loved this.  The water is pretty gross so you can't really see in it, but there are actually a lot of fish that come up to eat the bread we toss in, including some pretty big ones.

They're kind of hard to see, but all those things in the water are fish

Our friend's super cute baby

My giant bag because for some reason I feel the need to always be over prepared and carry everything with me

Super fun, I hope we can do it again soon!

  1. Ahhhh...everytime you guys go up there it seems like one of my kids are sick, but it looks like so much fun! Let us know the next time!
